CHED Tulong Dunong releases scholarship funds

The UP Mindanao Office of Student Affairs (OSA) hosted the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Ceremonial Distribution of Tulong Dunong Program in Davao City to its beneficiaries on January 24, 2025. Some 48 UPMin students and two from Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) received their Tulong Dunong assistance on that day.

OSA director, Assoc. Prof. Maria Stella Salazar welcomed the participants, including personnel from the national government, to the ceremony. She underscored the Tulong Duong program’s harmony with UP Mindanao’s and the UP System’s flagship program for inclusive education.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivered a recorded message reiterating his administration’s commitment to quality education towards their flagship program of “Bagong Pilipinas.”

CHED Chairman J. Prospero de Vera III, in his recorded message, enjoined the Tulong Dunong scholars to use their assistance for educational needs and to prioritize completing their college education.

Senator Christopher Lawrence Go, in his message, said that as chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth, he will continue to champion their needs in the Senate, and, as chair of the Committee on Sports, to encourage the participation of the youth, and as chair of the Committee on Health, continue his nationwide health center initiatives.

UP Mindanao students and Tulong Dunong scholars Rodrigo Lanaban Jr. (BSABE) and Shane Angela Banzon (BACMA) shared their experiences under the Tulong Dunong program.

Senator Go’s representative, Atty. Ron Villacampa echoed the senator’s commitments to the youth and the sectors under his advocacies.

Presenting the financial assistance are UP Mindanao Scholarships Officer Alma Marcelino, OSA Director Ma. Stella Salazar, Atty. Villacampa, CHED-XI’s Jamie Umar, and DSSC’s Dulce Marie Martinez.
