University personnel welcomed the reappointment of Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao to a second term with a show of support at the February 3, 2025, flag ceremony.
Officials and staff presented Chancellor Murao with flowers to show their appreciation for Chancellor Murao’s leadership and high hopes for her second term.
Flag ceremony host and inspirational speaker Prof. May Anne Mata said, “I do believe that leaders are appointed by God, I believe in that. And every time that we are in a leadership role, it’s important for us to follow what is right. Do you know that what you believe affects how you live? So, whatever you believe in will affect what your life will be in this world,” she said.
“I am grateful for our experience of the past three years, what we have done since, what we have accomplished, and the relationships that we built together, I thank you all,” said Chancellor Murao. “Given this opportunity to serve another three years, I know it’s a big challenge, but I would like to consider it an opportunity instead of a challenge. When I was reflecting on the past experience, one word came to my mind. I felt strongly about that word. It describes how I want to move forward next, and that word is “reset.” So we have to trace back our steps. We have to rethink how we have been doing things and look at what has worked for us and what didn’t work for us. And therefore, we have to re-calibrate our steps forward. So, this is another opportunity for us to work together to do those things: retrace, rethink, and recalibrate. But I cannot do that alone. So, I need everybody’s help. So that we can all plan and do something better for UP Mindanao. So, reset. And I hope you are all with me on this journey as we reset our path for UP Mindanao. So, once again, I thank you all for your love, support, and your prayers. I am really hoping well for UP Mindanao, for everybody!”
