UP Mindanao officials received an offer from a telecommunications company to support scholarships and other campus development in an online meeting held on January 27, 2025.
In the meeting, Ms. Jancie Dane de Dios, a representative of Frontier Towers Phils., offered a proposal for possible areas of partnership with UP Mindanao to Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao and her team.
“We would like to explore a meaningful partnership with your university as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. This collaboration aims to support scholarships, provide donations, and enhance connectivity within the campus, fostering greater digital inclusion. In line with this, we propose the deployment of cell towers within the campus to improve data connectivity for the university community,” she said.
Ms. de Dios also disclosed Frontier Towers’ company credentials and involvement with other higher education institutions in the meeting.
Chancellor Murao’s team welcomed the offer and pledged to prepare its list of potential programs or projects that Frontier Towers could support.
“Thank you for presenting your proposal and discussing possible areas of partnership with UP Mindanao,” she said.
“We shall await your standard memorandum of agreement, which we can customize for our proposed partnership. Once a draft agreement is prepared, we can meet again to discuss the details,” she said.
Chancellor Murao was joined in the meeting by student affairs director Assoc. Prof. Maria Stella Salazar, information technology director Assoc. Prof. Armacheska Satina, land reservations chief Mr. Joel Sagadal, Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Mindanao director Mr. Michael Gatela, and executive assistant Mr. Allan Villanueva.
